Mike Barry, Fujifilm product marketing manager – digital solutions, joined a panel of suppliers at the third annual Digital Packaging Summit to discuss the impact hybrid flexo/inkjet printing technology will have in packaging. Moderated by Marco Boer of I.T. Strategies, the panel also included representatives from Mark Andy, Nilpeter, Kodak, and Gallus.
“In the label segment, hybrid printing, which often combines inkjet and flexographic technologies, has emerged as a solution to provide the best of both worlds into a single-pass process.” Cory Francer, editor-in-chief of packagePRINTING from an article covering the panel at PIworld.com (“Hybrid-Flexo/Inkjet Printing Will Bring Best of Both Worlds to Packaging”, October 27, 2017)
Hosted by Printing Impressions at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., on October 23-25, 2017, the invitation-only summit is designed for senior managers and business executives interested in understanding how current and future digital production printing technology will impact their business.
Barry shared how important it is to partner with customers as they investigate hybrid solutions like Fujifilm’s Graphium UV Digital Hybrid Inkjet Press. Each converter needs assistance to discover how the technology can gain them a competitive advantage.
Barry added that because each converter is at a different stage in their adaptation of digital, their needs will be unique. The best approach is to listen first to what these needs are and then show how the hybrid solution meets these needs.
“Converters know their business better than we do. We need to inform them what the hybrid device is capable of doing so they can tell us what they can do with that device and we can all win together.” Mike Barry, Fujifilm product marketing manager – digital solutions.
