As reported in the June/July, 2015 Issue of Big Picture Magazine, national signage provider bluemedia of Tempe, Arizona won a 1-million-square-foot point-of-purchase sign order for the biggest football game of the year (yes, the Big One played every February) even though the RFP called for half the order to be printed in a week, kitted in two days and immediately sent to a variety of locations.

As highlighted in the article “Win More Business Through New Production Efficiencies,” bluemedia’s confidence was driven by switching to the Fujifilm version of ColorGATE Production Server, a single RIP solution that supports over 750 proofers, printers, and cutters while confirming and syncing color on every square foot produced.

How did the new (ColorGATE Production Server) RIP perform for bluemedia? The customer was so impressed, bluemedia has already been awarded the next two “Big Games” in 2016 and 2017. — Big Picture, June/July 2015.

ColorGATE inludes several new features to increase efficiency and cost effectively get more jobs in and out of production. The Adobe PDF Print Engine increases RIP speed and makes it possible to gang several print jobs into one collective run to optimize cutting and minimize material waste. Other efficiences mentioned included a new Ink Saver Module that can reduce ink usage by up to 30% without losing quality. The central RIP station (shown in picture) runs 13 devices using ColorGATE software. Operations that took many hours and many pieces of software to accomplish are now handled by taking complete advantage of the APPE multi-core process.

Also mentioned in the article as new production efficiencies from Fujifilm were:

  • Inca Print Run Controller – This new software available for all Inca Onset presses allows you to print a multi-page, multi-region campaign in a pre-defined order; dramatically reducing inventory and labor while facilitating the speed of POP campaign roll-outs.
  • Acuity F – The newest entry to the popular Acuity family of flatbed presses was cited for its dual work zone configuration that lets you set up one job while printing a second and a new automatic maintenance system which reduces maintenance time for the operator.
